A throttle pin is a fixed metering element fitted inside a valve body or manifold block to set a flow rate or to damp a pilot line. It has no external adjustment — the orifice is sized as part of the circuit design — so a replacement has to match the original. Fitting a different size changes the speed or the damping behaviour of the circuit it sits in, which is usually only discovered once the machine is running.
