A hydraulic hose is the one component on a machine that fails without warning and takes something else with it when it goes. Get the pressure rating, the bend radius or the fluid compatibility wrong and you are not looking at a slow leak — you are looking at a burst line, a contaminated system and, at 4000 psi, a genuine safety incident. Getting it right is a matter of matching seven things, which is what the STAMPED checklist on our hose and piping page is for.
What we keep on the shelf
Four hoses are held in stock at Shah Alam and Butterworth, cut and crimped the same day in our own workshop. Between them they cover the great majority of what a Malaysian plant or workshop actually asks for.
Gates CR1 — PRO Series single wire braid to EN 853 1SN. Rated 3250 psi at DN6, tapering to 1275 psi at DN25, with an SBR cover and an NBR nitrile tube. This is the medium-pressure workhorse: return lines, low-pressure supply, general plant and workshop replacement.
Gates CR2 — PRO Series two wire braid to EN 853 2SN. Rated 5800 psi at DN6 down to 2400 psi at DN25, same tube and cover construction. If you replace one hose a week on mixed equipment, this is the one you replace most often. Both run from -40°C to +100°C and both are MSHA approved.
Gates jack hose — for hydraulic jacks, porta-power sets and bolt tensioning, where the pressures are far above anything a normal hydraulic circuit sees.
4XH — held for the higher-pressure and heavier-duty work that braid construction cannot carry.
Because these four sit on the shelf, a broken hose brought to either branch in the morning generally goes back out the same day. That is usually worth more to a plant than any specification argument.
What we bring in
Stock is the fast half of the job. The rest of the Gates range is available to order, and we quote it as readily as what is in the racks: the G-series braid, the MegaSys spiral range (M2T, M3K, M4K, M5K, M6K and MXT), the MXG and EFG families, TH7, TH7DL and TH8 thermoplastics, PILOT for control circuits, and the specialist covers — IA3K, PRO1T, PROV and GTH. HANSA-FLEX braided hose to EN 853 1SN and 2SN is available the same way.
We are not tied to one manufacturer either. Where a machine builder's specification, an existing installation or your own maintenance standard calls for a particular make, we also supply Parker, Manuli, Alfagomma and Aeroquip among others. If you already run one brand across a plant and want to keep it that way, tell us — matching what is fitted is usually the right answer, and we would rather source it than argue you out of it.
Two hoses we recommend when service life is the point
If a hose keeps failing on a particular circuit and nobody can quite say why, these are the two we put forward. Neither is a shelf item; both are worth the wait.
Gates EFG6K is a MegaSys MegaSpiral built for extremely high pressure and high-impulse duty, and three things separate it from ordinary spiral hose.
It holds 6000 psi at every size from DN10 right through to DN51 — a two-inch hose at the same working pressure as a three-eighths one, with a 24,000 psi burst figure throughout, a four-to-one margin the whole way up. Most spiral ranges shed working pressure as the bore grows. This one does not.
Its cover is chloroprene (CR) rather than the SBR or NBR/PVC used across the rest of the range. The cover is the part that faces the weather, the rubbing and the ozone, and chloroprene stands up to all three better.
And it runs to +121°C, twenty-one degrees hotter than the standard range. On a hot machine in a Malaysian plant, that margin is not academic. EFG6K exceeds SAE 100R15 and ISO 3862 R15.
Gates MXT — MegaTech — solves the opposite problem. It exceeds SAE 100R16 and, in sizes -4 through -12, ISO 11237 R17 as well, R17 being the compact standard: a smaller outside diameter and a tighter bend radius than conventional spiral of the same rating.
That matters for service life more than it sounds. Most premature hose failures are not the hose being under-rated. They are the hose being forced round a corner tighter than its minimum bend radius during installation, or rubbing on a frame because there was no room to route it properly. A hose that actually fits the space does not get abused into failing early. MXT carries 6000 psi at DN6, tapering to 2400 psi at DN25.
We build the assembly on the largest crimper in Malaysia
A hose is only as good as its ends. A correctly rated hose on a mis-crimped fitting does not fail in the middle where you would see it coming — it fails at the fitting, usually at pressure, usually on a Friday.
We crimp in-house on a Gates HM 480 production press: 480 tonnes of crimping force, a 310 mm crimping range, and the capacity to terminate industrial hose up to 8 inches along with 3-inch 90° elbow fittings. It is the largest hose crimping machine in Malaysia.
Most buyers only discover why that matters when they need it. A typical service crimper runs out somewhere around 2-inch four-spiral, which is why large-bore assemblies get quoted with a long lead time or turned away altogether. Ours does not run out. The large-bore industrial hose, suction lines and elbow assemblies that other shops send elsewhere are routine work here — and there is no hose in the Gates range, EFG6K at DN51 included, that we cannot terminate.
Every assembly is cut to length, crimped with Gates MegaCrimp or GlobalSpiral couplings, and pressure-tested before it leaves.
Fluid and temperature
The Gates rubber hoses here use an NBR nitrile tube and run from -40°C to +100°C on mineral oil. Tell us if your fluid is a water glycol, a phosphate ester, a food-grade oil or anything else, because that narrows the choice quickly and it is the detail most often left out of an enquiry.
The fastest way to get a quote
Photograph the layline. Every hydraulic hose has its manufacturer, type and size printed along its length, and that printing alone tells us what to supply. Send the photo on WhatsApp with the overall length and the fitting type at each end and we will come back with price, stock and lead time.
If the layline is worn off, or the hose is already off the machine, give us the STAMPED details instead — Size, Temperature, Application, Media, Pressure, Ends and Delivery. We would rather ask two extra questions than send you the wrong hose.
Hydraulic hose is stocked at Shah Alam and Butterworth alongside couplings, fittings and piping, and supplied throughout Malaysia.
