An axial piston variable pump delivers only the flow the machine is asking for. Pistons run against a swashplate or a bent axis, and a control adjusts the angle continuously to set displacement — so instead of pumping full flow and relieving the excess as heat, the pump de-strokes. On a system running many hours a day, that shows up directly in the electricity bill and in fluid temperature.
Twin Hydraulics Engineering is a Bosch Rexroth Certified Excellence Distributor and supplies the complete Rexroth axial piston programme in Malaysia — 41 series across open circuit, closed circuit and bent axis designs, from Shah Alam and Butterworth. We also supply piston pumps from Parker, Eaton, Danfoss, Yuken and Atos, and our workshop repairs Kawasaki, Linde, Parker and Danfoss units as well as Rexroth.
Open circuit — industrial
For power packs, presses, test rigs and process machinery, where the pump draws from a tank and returns through a filter.
— A10VSO — the general-purpose industrial workhorse and our deepest stock item. See the stock and conversion kit section below.
— A4VSO — heavier duty, for higher pressure industrial systems and long duty cycles
— A15VSO — larger displacement industrial units
Open circuit — mobile
For excavators, cranes, drilling rigs, tippers and agricultural machinery, where space, weight and shock loading all matter.
— A10VO — series 31, 5x and 52; the mobile equivalent of the A10VSO
— A10VNO — for open circuit fan and auxiliary drives
— A11V(L)O — larger mobile open circuit, series 1x
— A7VO — bent axis design, series 63
— A8VO — bent axis double pump, two circuits from one drive
— A20VO and A18VO — compact mobile series
Closed circuit — hydrostatic drives
For travel drives, winches and rotary drives, where the fluid loops between pump and motor instead of returning to tank. These are the pumps behind hydrostatic transmissions on wheel loaders, compactors, harvesters and mixers.
— A10VG — series 10 and 60. This is our largest single series by part count, with over 400 items listed.
— A4VG — series 32, 35, 40 and 60; the standard closed circuit pump on medium and heavy mobile machines
— A21VG, A24VG and A30VG — further closed circuit variants
— A4VTG — closed circuit for truck mixer drives
Alongside these we list the A10CO, A4CSG, A4VSG, A4VHO, A4VBO, A1VO, A10VZO, A3V2Q and other specialised series, plus bent axis units filed in the same section. If your nameplate is not in the list, send it to us — it is almost certainly something we can trace.
A10VSO from stock, configured to your machine
A variable pump is not one part number, it is a family. The same displacement can come with different shafts, different through-drives and different controls, and the wrong one means a pump that will not couple to your motor or will not take your second pump. Most suppliers order each combination from the factory and quote a lead time in months.
We work the other way round on the A10VSO. We hold the pumps in stock, and we hold the conversion kits — so the shaft and through drive can be changed here, and we can supply the pump in the configuration your machine actually uses rather than making you wait for a factory build.
— Through drive — from a blank cover through to mounting flanges that let a second pump be driven off the back of the first
— Shaft — splined or parallel keyed, to suit your existing coupling
— Controls — DR, DFR, DFLR and electric proportional versions
— Ports — flanged or threaded, in the orientation you need
Tell us the type code from the nameplate and the shaft and through drive you need, and we will confirm what we can build from stock. If you are replacing a pump on a running machine, this is the difference between back in production this week and back in production next quarter.
Understanding the control
The letters after the displacement define the pump's behaviour, and they matter as much as the size.
— DR — pressure control; the pump holds set pressure and de-strokes to whatever flow maintains it
— DFR — pressure and flow, load sensing, holding a fixed margin across a control orifice
— DFLR — adds power limitation, capping input torque so the prime mover is not stalled
— EO / EP — electric proportional control of displacement
— DA, HD, EP on closed circuit pumps — speed related, hydraulic and electric control of the drive
Replacing a DFR pump with a DR unit will run the machine, but not the way it was designed to run.
Open or closed circuit — which do I have?
If the pump has a large suction line running to a tank and a separate return line through a filter, it is open circuit. If two equal-sized high pressure hoses run between the pump and a motor, with only a small charge and case drain line to tank, it is closed circuit. The two are not interchangeable, so establishing this first saves a wasted quotation.
Frequently asked
How do I read my pump's nameplate? The type code runs series, size, control, series number and shaft and port options. Photograph the plate and we will decode it and identify the current equivalent.
Can you supply an A10VSO with a different through drive to the one on the datasheet? Yes. We hold conversion kits in stock, so the through drive and shaft can be changed here rather than ordered as a factory variant.
How quickly can I get an A10VSO in Malaysia? Common sizes are on the shelf. Send us the type code — if we hold the pump and the kit, you are looking at days, not months.
My pump is a closed circuit A4VG or A10VG — do you carry those too? Yes, and the A10VG is in fact our largest listed series. Send the type code and we will confirm availability and lead time.
Is a variable pump worth it over a fixed pump? On a duty cycle with varying demand, usually yes. On constant-demand systems a fixed pump is the sensible choice.
Do you supply spare parts or only complete pumps? Both — seal kits, rotary groups and controls, as well as complete units. We also repair and overhaul pumps from all major brands.
Can you supply a non-Rexroth piston pump? Yes — Parker, Eaton, Danfoss, Yuken and Atos, and we can cross an obsolete unit to a current equivalent.
