The Bosch Rexroth 4WRDE is a pilot operated proportional directional valve with integrated on-board electronics (OBE) and electrical position feedback, for flow rates beyond what a direct operated valve can pass. A small proportional pilot stage positions the main spool, so NG16, NG25 and larger main stages can be controlled with the same accuracy as an NG6 valve. On-board electronics simplify the installation considerably: the valve takes a supply voltage and a command signal directly, with no separate amplifier card to specify, wire or match. Feedback is taken from the main spool, so the closed loop covers the whole valve rather than just the pilot stage — important on large-flow axes where main spool flow forces are significant.
Typical duties are press main axes, die casting and injection moulding, mill and forming equipment, and large cylinder drives that need controlled ramping under heavy load.
