Servo valves sit at the top of the directional-valve range. Where a proportional valve gives you smooth, adjustable flow, a servo or servo-solenoid valve adds very high dynamic response and precise position feedback so the axis can be run in a closed loop. That makes them the standard choice for injection moulding, presses, test rigs, steel-mill gauge control, paper machines and any application where position, speed or force has to track a setpoint tightly.
Within this range Twin Hydraulics Engineering supplies the two most common Rexroth families: the 4WRPH / 4WRPEH direct-operated servo-solenoid valves (size NG6, integrated electronics) and the 4WRSE pilot-operated servo-solenoid valves (NG10 to NG27) for higher flows. Two- and three-stage servo valves with mechanical or electrical feedback (4WS2EM, 4WSE) are available on request.
Selection notes. Match the valve size to the flow required at the rated pressure drop, confirm the command signal (±10 V or 4–20 mA), the supply voltage, and the spool type (zero-lap or positive overlap). Servo valves are sensitive to contamination, so pair them with the right filtration and a cleanliness target of ISO 4406 18/16/13 or better.
