A flow control valve sets how fast an actuator moves by regulating the oil going to it. The simplest form is a fixed or adjustable throttle; the more useful form is a pressure-compensated flow control, which holds the set flow steady even when the load — and therefore the pressure drop across the valve — changes during the stroke.
Rexroth MG and MK throttle and throttle-check valves cover simple metering with free reverse flow. 2FRM two-way flow control valves add a pressure compensator so a cylinder or motor keeps the same speed as the load varies. Sandwich-plate Z2FS throttle-check valves fit directly under a directional valve to meter one or both actuator ports without extra pipework — the usual way to slow a single function on an existing manifold. Where speed must be changed from the machine control rather than by hand, a proportional directional valve will do both direction and metering in one component.
Meter-in or meter-out? Meter-in controls flow entering the actuator and suits resistive loads; meter-out controls flow leaving it and is what you want for overrunning loads such as a descending platform, where an unrestricted return line would let the load run away.
What we need to quote: type code or material number, flow range, operating pressure, mounting style (threaded, subplate to ISO 4401 or sandwich plate), whether pressure compensation is needed, and whether a free-reverse-flow check is required.
