1/2" NPT is the tapered-thread connection most common on American-standard equipment and on larger process and hydraulic installations; it is the usual fit for NS100 and NS160 gauges. NPT threads seal on the taper with PTFE tape or sealant, so they should not be interchanged with parallel BSP threads even though the nominal sizes look similar — a mismatch will leak or damage the port.
